PURPOSE OF ROLE
Downstream is looking for a analytic thinker, with a high attention to detail to assist in the day-to-day management of search engine marketing campaigns. As an entry level position into search engine marketing the role will encompass a broad range of activities including trafficking, reporting, keyword sourcing, keyword categorisation, copy writing and campaign analysis. No experience in search engine marketing is necessary. The role encompasses a large amount of computer based work, manipulating data in web based interfaces and excel.
The role, while an entry level position, is intended to be an ideal learning ground for someone new to search engine marketing, who in 6-9 months is ready to take on more total campaign management responsibility.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To traffic new campaigns into the relevant campaign management and measurement system
- To update the campaign management & measurement systems with changes to campaigns (eg new keywords, new copy, bids or landing pages) or the engines direct (Google, Yahoo, etc)
- To generate standard weekly reports by drawing reports out of the campaign management & measurement systems and populating pre-formatted excel reports.
- To run ad-hoc data requests in the campaign management & measurement systems to provide data to answer specific business questions at any point in time
- To analyse data sets to deliver insight into campaign performance against target and identify opportunities.
- To source keyword lists from a variety of sources including the web, keyword expansion tools, Google, Yahoo, etc
- To categorise keywords into pre-determined campaign structures, identifying which keywords belong in which categories.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
This person should be a process driven hard-worker, able to grasp new systems easily and communicate key findings clearly. The person needs a passion for the internet, marketing and technology.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
Degree in a business related discipline – Maths, Economics, Econometrics, Computer Science. Business and commercial awareness. Strong technical ability.
Desirable
IDM Diploma or other commercial focused qualification
SPECIALIST/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, APTITUDE
Essential
Intelligent yet able to express complex ideas simply and concisely Advanced / Intermediate Excel skills including usage of Pivot Tables, formulas, v-lookups, etc Ability to learn to navigate web-based interfaces quickly and accurately
Desirable
Advanced use of Microsoft Access
Advanced use of Microsoft Power Point and Word
Previous experience with management and analysis of large volumes of data and relational databases.
EXPERIENCE
